Wayne Brady to star in production of “Rent”

He’s shined in improv, starred in his own show and now Wayne Brady is hitting up the stage in new production of “Rent.”

Directed by Neil Patrick Harris, “Rent” will run at this year’s Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 6th and 7th at 8:30 p.m. and Aug. 8th at 7:30 p.m.

Brady will be joined with Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger and High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens, as well as Gwen Stewart, Skylar Astin, Collins Pennie, Telly Leung, Tracie Thoms and Aaron Tveit.

Brady said he was happy that fellow cast-mate Vanessa Hudgens was chosen for her role as Mimi, “I was so happy to hear that she got [the role], because I think it’s great for people to see her outside of the world that’s been built around her…as a Disney kid. I say give her a chance to be a woman!” Brady told Broadway World.

Wayne Brady To Host Just For Laughs

Just For Laughs just confirmed the 2010 line up for the Toronto Festival. Wayne Brady will be hosting the most prestigious event of the festival, the West Jet Gala, on Thursday, July 8th at 7pm. The festival is scheduled to run July 6th-11th.

Have you ever heard of this event? Just For Laughs is the world’s largest and most prestigious comedy festival. It debuted in 1983 and has since grown to represent 23 days of laughter, 1.5 million festival goers, more than 1500 artists in 12 countries and more than 1200 outdoor and indoor performances. Each year its held in four cities: Montreal, Toronto, Chicago and Paris.

Joining Wayne Brady is a wide variety of the biggest names in comedy. These include Brad Garrett, Demetri Martin, Louis CK, Jerry Seinfeld, Lewis Black, Mike Birbiglia, Aziz Ansari, Gabriel Igesias, Jim Breur and Lavell Crawford, plus many more.

Orlando native, Wayne Brady, is an actor, singer and comedian best known for his role on the hit comedy series, Who’s Line Is It Anyway?

Brady started out on Britain’s theatrical version of the show and crossed over for the American version, making his first television debut. In 2003 he won a Primetime Emmy for his spot on the show.

Wayne Brady gained more commercial success with his own variety show (2001) and talk show (2002) both titled, The Wayne Brady Show. In 2004, Brady also made his Broadway debut in the musical Chicago. Since then Brady has contributed to many other television and musical projects, most recently accepting to host the revival of the game show, Let’s Make It A Deal in 2009.

On May 3, 2010, Wayne will be guest hosting WWE live from Jacksonville, FL. This marks his first collaboration with the wrestling federation. Fans can expect either a spin off of Who’s Line or Deal featuring WWE personalities.
